The Patagonian mountains attract the best climbers, but more rarely skiers, and for good reason: the tawny granite spires that streak across the skies of El Chalten are big walls where there is little snow. But in September 2023, a team has set itself the challenge of drawing ephemeral lines on them during the Patagonian spring. Vivian Bruchez, Aurélien Lardy and Jules Socié were able to ski some exceptional routes, documented by photographer Matthew Tufts, and meet local legend Max Odell. Under the eye of director Pierre Cadot, the story is told in this beautiful documentary, Painting the mountains, now available on YouTube.
