Ski test – Hagan Core 84

Our test

Size tested : 162 cm

We were able to test the Hagan Core 84 in size 162 cm, a women’s length… Therefore, when you weigh 70kg you find yourself on a very flexible ski. The tip bends, which obviously is detrimental to its fluidity. Although, a skier who’s weight and size correspond to this ski length will discover a pleasant product, that rides well through chop and any snow conditions. It’s playful in mounds of powder, the Hagan Core 84 has a very good working tip.

One of its biggest qualities is how easy it pivots. Off-piste, it manages very well even if you have to hold on as it only measures 84mm at the waist. But it doesn’t waver despite its tight edge shape. This ski has a speed limit; if you manage to go fast in moguls you suffer.

Once on hard or compact snow turn initiation with the tip works very well so long as you don’t overcharge the tip: remember the mini size we tested… The tip deforms and loses grip fast. It skis much better with pressure on the tail or mid-boot. In these conditions it’s fluid and present. If you do any hip, knee or ankle angulation you find the edge and its short radius: 17 m. The bonus: you can lengthen the radius. However, if you want to drastically reduce the radius, you need to charge it and it supports a lot of pressure, it bends.

In terms of grip, you find its limits on hard snow, the grip varies depending on speed and the skier’s weight. But for the most part it is fine.

The top sheet is mega tough with a shiny surface. The ski has a slight camber towards the front. A very beautiful ski with excellent perceived quality. Sobre graphics.

The Hagan Core 84 is a pleasant ski, efficient in the climbs, and pivots easily. A beautifully finished ski. We were pleasantly surprised by Hagan’s work. Such a shame that we tested a pair that was too short.

We also tested the Hagan Core 89.
