Our test
Size tested : 176 cm
Wedze (Decathlon) offers this ski alone or in a pack with bindings (Dynafit Tour Light) and skins, for a very competitive price (575 €). The pair of skis alone is also sold at an attractive price (375 €). But does this mean we have a ski at a discount? The answer is clearly no. We tested this ski during the spring of 2021 with good climbs sometimes on difficult snow and descents in variable snow: cold and a bit hard packed, carpet or heavy snow.
This MT85 proved to be very easy to handle. With a progressive rocker tip, it doesn’t take much effort to turn it, despite the sometimes tricky snow conditions. The ski does well in heavy or deep snow, even if it is not its speciality. In the size tested (176 cm) it gives the impression of being a little wider than 85mm. In hard snow its behaviour remains healthy and did not surprise the testers, the grip is correct. It’s a well-born ski, and you can easily find the instructions for use.
The only downside is that it is slightly overweight: with 2.88 kg (the pair of skis) on the scale, it is clearly a little heavier than its direct competitors, including the Dynastar M-Tour 86, which is furiously similar to it, and is lighter but more expensive. Tested with this ultra classic binding included in the pack (without ski stop), this MT85 is still a reasonable weight for the package and will appeal to a large number of skiers. Beginners (or smaller skiers of course) can choose the 168 to have an even more versatile ski.
