“I don’t want to ski the steepest lines in the world anymore, like in The List 2” Sam Anthamatten

Sam Anthamatten has been involved in countless freeride projects. Best Supporting Actor in most of the resulting films, he is currently starring in a short film dedicated (at last) to him, Nevia. We met Sam Anthamatten at the foot of his mountain, the Matterhorn, as humble as he is talented. We talked about his projects, The List 2 which left a bitter taste in our mouths, his view on sponsors and his work as a guide. Interview.

Alpine Mag: It’s hard to talk about skiing right now because you have a special project in the works!

Sam Anthamatten: Yes, my most important project is that we are going to have a little family with my wife who is pregnant. And that’s soon, in a fortnight! It’s a big project!

Congratulations! And then, what are your plans for the end of the season?

SA: I have another end of season project with Cody Townsend, to go to Baffin. We’re going to find lines described in a famous book in America, The 50 ski Classic descent of North America. Cody has an old plan to ski them all. And he invited me to go with him this winter. I’d like to go there, but it depends on the family. I would also like to go to Pakistan. But we can’t do everything!
